Debido a la alta resistencia de la bicapa de fosfol\u00edpidos de la membrana celular, el voltaje a trav\u00e9s de la c\u00e9lula es soportado principalmente por la membrana, con un voltaje m\u00ednimo en el citoplasma. Esto provoca una citotoxicidad insignificante durante la electroporaci\u00f3n en condiciones normales.
